BOERNE TMJ DENTISTRY
Are headaches, earaches, dizziness, and pain in your neck and shoulders a regular part of your life? These are all symptoms of a serious neuromuscular condition known as TMD. TMD stands for temporomandibular joint dysfunction. Our bodies have two of these joints, and they’re located just in front of our ears, where the upper and lower jaws connect. When they’re working properly, these joints are what make it possible for us to open and close our mouths smoothly.
Unfortunately, they don’t always work properly. Stress or a misaligned bite can cause these joints to dysfunction. This, in turn, can cause their nerve endings to become inflamed and result in the mild to severe symptoms that patients with TMD experience on a routine basis.
